My Family

by on May.09, 2012, under Uncategorized

My family loves me. They play with me every day. They know me very well. They love me. They feed me. They look at me each day, and they think I am beautiful. They know me. They think of me.

My family is amazing. They play basketball and have family game nights every Sunday. My family knows what I like, and they admire me. My family thinks of me and knows what I do. They play every game I like.

My family goes shopping with me. They plan a birthday party every year for me. We have a campfire every once in a while, and we like to go in the woods to explore.

I love my family. My family is the best one I could ever have.

Letter to Lewis and Clark

by on May.09, 2012, under Uncategorized

Dear Lewis and Clark,

I really liked how your dog, Seaman, got squirrels in the river for you along your journey. What did you think when you saw black squirrels crossing the river? I would be thinking, “What in the world are squirrels doing in the river!”

If the President of the United States came to Mid Vermont Christian School and told me to explore, I would want to go on a climbing expedition up Mount Everest. I would want to have a big dog with me like you did so I could be safe and not lonely. I think it would be beautiful to find out what it would actually look like there. I could see the snow on it. I would have to have an oxygen tank with me.

Do you think that would be fun to do? I do! I love to explore mountains and forests and trees. I especially like to have a big tree to climb. I live on a mountain with lots of trees and rocks and a good sight down the road. I wonder if I would miss my wonderful house when I was on my exploration. Did you?

Your friend,
Flicka the Explorer

Things to be Happy About Spring

by on May.09, 2012, under Uncategorized

1. I like the wind blowing.
2. I like flowers, like tulips.
3. I like Spring! (What do you like about Spring?)
4. I also like rocks.
5. I like the way the wind blows around the tree branches.
6. I like to play outside in the Spring,
7. And skip on the rocks.
8. I like to play football,
9. And soccer a lot in the Spring. (What do you like to do in the Spring-time?)
10. I like to play on the playground. (Do you like to slide down the slide, and play on the merry-go-round?)

Hide the Checker

by on May.09, 2012, under Uncategorized

You need a checker. You have to have two people or more. How you play is the people you are playing with go into a different room than you. When you are ready, you call them out. Then they try to find the checker. If it takes more than five or ten minutes, then you win. If the person finds the checker first, then they win! I made this game up, and it was fun!

Mid Vermont’s Psalm of Praise

by on Dec.22, 2011, under Uncategorized

A Mid Vermont

Psalm of Praise

written by all

of the preschoolers

through sixth graders,

along with many teachers

and parents

God is like a strong wind,

Powerful and mighty.

God is like a soft wind,

Gentle and refreshing.

God is like an eraser,

for he erases all our sins.

God is like the full moon

because He is big and bright

and directs us

through dark places.

Jesus is like stairs

because He leads us to God

from earth to Heaven.

God is a turtle shell

because He is a strong protector

and He shelters us from harm.

God is a shade

by the way He protects us

from the world

and shades us

from those who may tempt us.

God wrote His love letter to us

with a permanent marker

so that it will never go away

and it won’t come off our hearts.

God is as creative as a potter making pots.

God is the Light of the world

because He lights our path

and leads us

while we are following Him.

White Ash

by on Dec.22, 2011, under Uncategorized

I look like I have two stems

Reaching to the sky.

Every day I see cars and other people.

I can see a burning bush from my height.

You can make a strong baseball bat out of me.

I am a friend of nature.

I have moss covering my toes.

I hear people walking and making noise.

I have fun all day seeing people walk

Underneath my strong, straight trunk.

I am the big white ash tree.

Snowy White Winter

by on Dec.22, 2011, under Uncategorized

Winter is like a cotton day

With white every day.

When you walk, it sounds like popcorn popping.

Snow looks all cottony and puffy.

Winter is an adventure!

Snow looks like clouds of white,

But snow doesn’t fly.

Snow tastes scrumptious.

Do you think it does?

The snow makes the door fog up.

When you stand in the sun in the winter,

You get warm and cold together.

When the snow falls from the tree,

It is like it is snowing all over again.

When it first snowed,

It was one of the awesomest days of my life.

Do you like winter?
